History of Shangdu
Kublai Khan started to use Shangdu as the capital of Yuan Dynasty, which means "Upper capital." Shangdu Marco Polo once lived in a Shangdu palace when he arrived in 1275 to Yuan. However, It was destroyed when China was freed from Mongol rule. The after mongols dynasty destroyed the Shangdu palace, because the new mongol king didn’t want to remember the old shang du king. |

Kublai Khan decided to build the Kaiping prefecture government in Shangdu. The political system of Yuan Dynasty was based on the political system of the song Dynasty, but it had a highly centralized system of government. On the other hand, Yuan government created a “Four Class System”, which means that Mongolian people took authority of Yuan society instead of Han people. Climate
